US. Army 75th. Ranger Regiment Page 103

BMFhe's a mechanic. you pretty much already answered your own question right there.

I was worried that he might be going out on patrols with the grunts as a precaution in case something breaks down while they are out on a patrol.

SkyUS

The only times our Mechanics left the wire was when we moved to a new FOB/COP.

digrarSo while there won't be much call to conduct left flanking assaults back in the world the traits and characteristics developed to enable an Infantryman to coordinate and conduct that left flanking assault can be used in a more conventional form of employment or education. Amongst the boys I served with a high proportion of us are earning 6 figures and doing quite well. On the other side of the coin there are a heap who struggle with PTSD some are crippled by it they can't handle people they lose their cool resort to physical confrontation and can't keep a job the stress effects their health others are carrying physical injuries that make employment an issue.

Good summary digrar; I have seen almost the same responses among the guys I served with in my platoon just as a small sample. Totally opposite reactions to university jobs social interactions. Some even have PTSD but manage well academically and in demanding work environments but in the free time tend to get "in trouble" and some are totally crippled by it and manage it by getting in trouble or managing to stay out of trouble with social isolation.

SkyUShe could be doing pretty much everything considering that the Rangers aren't exactly going to sit around and do nothing all day.

He's not... he'll be fixing Strykers. While Rangers do use "soft skills" sometimes to fill gaps with the trigger pullers as the Battalions are perpetually understrength odds are he'll be a mechanic. Someone really needs to post a picture or something...

Yeah sorry for the off topic comments from my side. I didn't really want to start a new topic. I didn't mean to derail this one too much.

As a stryker mechanic he has a miniscule chance of ever going out on target.

SkyUS

Support dudes still have to go through RASP and if he's really in regiment he chose to be there. So him going on patrols should be a given.

lol...patrols...

Fadeaway Jumper

To earn the tan beret you have to make it through RASP. End of story. Also he may have worked on Strykers but he's in a very broad MOS: 91 B Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic.

Once stationed in Savannah he was also trained briefly as a mechanic on a Humvee I think.

SkyUS

Systems Maintainer and Mechanic is different friend!

Perhaps believe what the guy who is actually in the Ranger Regiment is saying?

Less talking and more pics.

baconless talking and more pics.

this..............

This pic is it from the Grenada invasion?

flanker7Plus they gave a crystal clear image....

flanker7This pic is it from the Grenada invasion?

The first one is from Eagle Claw/Evening Light/Rice Bowl note the CAG operator with the Walther MP.

Commander ShepardPerhaps believe what the guy who is actually in the Ranger Regiment is saying?

Yeah stick.up.kid is correct. He might tc or gun on GAFs but he won't dismount and HAFs will generally never happen for him. Being support in Battalion isn't really glorious. If he's going to 1/75 our mechanics are super squared away and a couple have placed in Best Ranger or moved on to other units like SF to get their shoot on but at the end of the day you're still a mechanic.
