Islamic Republic of Iran Armed Forces

- Ataollah Salehi (Army Commander in Chief)

Iran used to mark their military vehicles with a small green white and red roundel but at some point they stopped doing so. Does anyone know when and why this change was made?

In any case thank you KuroiRyu for posting these interesting pics of a seldom-seen army. I believe many of us here especially modelers are very interested in Iranian vehicles and aircraft and would love to see anything you've got.

James PhillipsIran used to mark their military vehicles with a small green white and red roundel but at some point they stopped doing so. Does anyone know when and why this change was made?

I think that roundel was a tradition of the Imperial Army. If you check old magazines back of the 1970's you will find photos of Iranian armors with the small green white and red roundel. They used that symbol in the Iraqi-Iran war and also until the 90's like also the Russian Army used Soviet roundels and badges until some years ago. I consider the Iranian army similar to the Russian Army the P.L.A. and the Indian Army too their army is a total "mess"I mean they have nothing of standard regarding uniforms vehicles camouflages...

Here's another question: I know some Iraqi Mi-24 Hind helicopter gunships were flown to Iran by pilots fleeing Coalition air forces. The Iranians seized these helicopters as reparations for damage done during the Iran-Iraq War. But what have the Iranians done with these Hinds? Have they been put into Iranian service like the Su-25s and other captured Iraqi planes? I've never seen any photos of Hinds in Iranian markings. Has anyone else?

The Hind is a fine gunship. If the IRIAF isn't interested in them you would think the Pasdaran would be. It would be a shame to just leave them sitting in a hanger somewhere. It's not like spare parts would be hard to come by.

Do they have gillette in Iran?
