No HK416 for CQB. Looks like Diemaco C8s

What?!

There are specific reasons why Army SOF are not using the HK416 system as of yet. The one you state is not it.

Arctic1

I'm not trying to come across like an expert because I don't know for sure you're right about that. But instead of being one of those guys who just poinst out what's wrong. how about you try to inform why?

Where did you read that the reason was the lack of a heavy barrel? And how does that play a part in CQB?

Also they have been equipped with them and they have used them. That is why they said "we'll wait".

But why they don't just equip the HK416 10'' versions with a heavier barrel beats me.

Another reason as to why they aren't in a hurry to change their standard issue rifle may be because they've got well over a decade's worth of experience with the C8 and it's been working for them. If they have no immediate need for it then why change rifles? If it ain't broke don't fix it.

@Zephyr23:

With the HK416 the system gets away with not using a heavy profile barrel because of the high quality steel. That does not however mean that it is impervious to heat build up. We are ordered to stop shooting after 180 rounds rapid fire to avoid cook offs. Further heating will eventually cause damage to the barrel itself.

It never ceases to astound me how irrelevant people no matter what nationality and these said people usually/quite often with either no very little military experience or the wrong type of military experience simply HAS to comment and make bombastic statements about one thing or the other regarding - primarily - SOF from whatever country. WTF are you trying to prove anyways... is it just a matter of trying to come across as "someone important who knows their shyt" - maybe even trying to come across as one of "Them" or is it something else? Please enlighten me because i don't have a clue. Arctic1 is exempt from this rant Marsuitor Arctic1 were able to shed some light on the issue and I thank him for that!! that's why I'm here as said to discuss and learn! Well If you want to discuss and learn don't post statements like they are fact. Ask a question or say that you heard that it was due to this and this reason and wonder if it is true.

There was nothing in your post resembling that you wanted to learn.
