Thanks for the update zuilon2000! The HF-2E looks kind of similar to the Tomahawk cruise missile but I heard it can go supersonic though. IMHO the RoCN should focus more on buying their own HF-II and HF-III AShM's than buying the Harpoon AShM's. Any word on any other indigenous military projects in Taiwan.

Thanks for the link Bryan C.

Any news anyone on the XT-97 assault rifle that was shown at the TADTE show in August 2009 ? has it entered production ? any new pics ?

thanks

tsoomAnyway I don't think the western MBTs are suitable for TW. It is only an island with much mountain area. And brigdes in TW might not be able to withstand those heavy tanks.

also the fact that on taiwan there is alot of "china" names or references stems from the view that ROC aka. taiwan post 1949 is the only "real" authority to china as the PRC was established by a rebel communist force following the established government of the time (ROC led KMT) lost control of the mainland and retreated to the last remaining ROC territory to regroup for the eventually retaking of mainland china (never turned out that way throw in 60 years of time and social changes and you get the current divide situation) ... the DPP faction and recent "taiwanization = local culture" movement is of internal social struggle within taiwan itself of 1895-1949 and earlier original settlers from fujian province of china that see the post 1949 settlers as "outsiders" and of losing out from the change in power structure from colony of japan to chinese ROC post WW2 return of territory to china (qing dynasty lost the japan thus taiwan's change to japan colony and then the revert as per defeat of japan in WW2)

last summer when i was in taiwan i saw MP armed with mainly T86 and T91 rifles when guarding military offices..these new XT-97 looks like a attempt to go the way of SCAR rifle

I don't know how often people check this thread if at all but I'm having trouble finding OLD pictures of the Taiwanese Army. Any older pictures of the Taiwanese Army or Military Police would be great and I need especially pictures of the uniforms. Thanks!
