San Diego CA(Nov. 18 2013) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Preble (DDG 88) returns to its homeport of San Diego after completing a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility. Deployed since April 19 the ship served as the flagship for Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15 for more than four months and conducted operations with both the Nimitz and George Washington Carrier Strike Groups. CAMP PENDLETON Calif. - A Memorial service was held at the Base Theatre at 10 a.m. today in honor of Gunnery Sgt. Gregory J. Mullins Staff Sgt. Mathew R. Marsh Sgt. Miguel Ortiz and Staff Sgt. Eric W. Summers. The four Explosive Ordnance Disposal Marines were killed in an explosion at approximately 11 a.m. November 13 during range maintenance operations to dispose of unexploded ordnance in the Zulu impact area aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. "Today we pause for a moment to remember our fallen comrades: their lives service and sacrifice. We their Marine Family mourn alongside their loved ones.
