Can anybody tell me what those squares on the M1 turret front are good for?
These are CIP's or Combat Identification Panels you can see them
on turret front one variant and at turret sides second variant these
panels are used to identify friend or foe using thermal vision panels
are cold colder than vehicle they are placed on so observing vehicle in
thermal vision you can very quickly notice such large square objects
that are colder than vehicle.
