Some of them are private purchases. Last year most of the equipment was donated to the Greek team by 2 mlitary gear stores in Athens.
Three U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion transport helicopters with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 466 (HMH-466) Marine Aircraft Group 16 (MAG-16) 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3rd MAW) from Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar San Diego Calif. in direct support of U.S. Marines from 1st Battalion 5th Marine Regiment 1st Marine Division from Camp Pendleton Calif. conduct a battalion extraction of 440 Marines at Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center (MCMWTC) Bridgeport California during Mountain Exercise (MTNEX) 6-13 Oct 19 2013. HMH-466 conducted squadron training and combined arms operations at MCMWTC Bridgeport in order to continue pre-deployment training program (PTP) requirements in support of MTNEX 6-13.

Poor weather including gusting winds at the Wiley Sike drop zone (DZ) in Cumbria was a threat to the task and the Hercules had to climb from its low-level approach as cloud threatened the pilot's visibility. The plan was to find a gap in the weather nearer to the DZ. The ploy worked and while the Paras hooked up their static lines and were checked by a team of four Parachute Jump Instructors the aircraft dropped to jumping height.
Five passes later at 600ft and B Company was on the ground and moving into the next phase of its task.
RAF air loadmaster Sergeant Gavin Livingstone said: We like working with the Paras. They are very good at what they do on the ground but are happy to place themselves in our care when it comes to parachuting.
