Dutch soldiers assigned to Fire Support Battalion Alpha Battery from t�Harde Netherlands fire a 120 mm illumination mortar round in preparation for the European Battlegroup Certification at the Grafenwoehr Training Area in Germany Feb. 21 2014. European Union Battlegroup 2014-02 the European Union�s quick reaction force is training 1550 soldiers from Belgium the Netherlands Luxembourg Spain and the former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia as part of the certification training.

Belgium soldiers assigned to 1st Carabiners 1st Grenadiers conduct training at the Grafenwoehr Training Area as part of the European Union�s Battlegroup 2014-02 Feb. 21 2014. The Belgian troops are part of a quick-reaction Infantry Task Force and is preparing for Exercise Rampant Lion which qualifies more than 1500 soldiers from Belgium the Netherlands Luxembourg Spain and the former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia to work as a task force. The training at the Grafenwoehr Training Area ensures interoperability of systems and synchronizes tactics in communication cordon and search convoy operations and compound security. The final certification is scheduled for June 2-13 at Saint Hubert Belgium.

The jump was one in a series of partnership events between the two brigades.

U.S. Marines with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Battalion Landing Team Alpha Company 1/4 throw live grenades during a live fire and movement grenade training exercise at Arta Range Djibouti Feb. 18 2014. A standard grenade can be thrown approximately 40 meters. The 13th MEU is deployed with the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
