Yes It could be argued the SA-80 and FAMAS lack the modularity of platforms such as the AR family but As I asked a few pages back What has come of the ARX-160 Italian SF had deployed with? Was it just operational testing or is it still under development? It seemed to have some promise

Can't say i know if the likes of the SAS and SBS etc have ever gone in to an operation using the L85 though it certainly isn't out of the question.

It is sure anyway that Uk special forces as much as italian ones usually employ some sort of AR15/ HK416

P.S. the development of special forces version of the arx160 is going on.

Lack of modularity that the AR-15 platform offers. Some claim they'll eventually adopt the ARX-160.

Italian SOF have definitely gone into operation using Italian assault rifles as visible in several old pics - it would have been a few years back though before procuring newer assault rifles. Hard to say whether they still do or don't as they are not photographed every single day.
